Why nominate

One weekend that changes the season

Nomination takes two minutes and costs nothing. What it opens is a weekend most players spend the rest of their minor-hockey career talking about.

The Showcase

Invited players are drafted onto All-Star squads by birth year and region, then play a full weekend of high-tempo games against the best of their age group.

  • Squads built by birth year, Jan 1 – Dec 31
  • Full game schedule, not a skills session
  • Professional officiating and game operations

The Exposure

Every All-Star is written up, shot and filed under the Prospects by Sports Illustrated banner — the coverage a strong weekend deserves and rarely gets.

  • Broadcast-standard photography for every squad
  • Game footage and box scores families keep
  • Scouts, prep programs and coaches in the building

The Experience

A ring ceremony, a full kit, a media slot and a locker room of players they have never met. Most alumni describe it as the weekend they stopped being a kid who plays hockey.

  • All-Star jersey, socks and shell to keep
  • Ring ceremony and team media session
  • Returning All-Stars honoured 2x through 5x

Who Nominates

Parents, guardians and coaches. Nomination takes about two minutes, costs nothing, and is not a commitment — selection and registration come afterwards, by invitation.

  • Free to nominate, no account required
  • Siblings can be nominated together
  • You hear back either way

Hall of Fame

Where our All-Stars went next

Every player below wore an All-Star jersey before they wore the one they wear now. The weekend does not make a career — but it is often the first time a player is seen by the people who shape one.

Returning All-Stars

Twice is an honour. Five times is a legacy.

Selection is fresh every edition, so nobody returns by default. Players who earn the jersey again are recognised at two, three, four and five appearances, with a milestone presentation at the ring ceremony.

This year’s wall goes up once squads are confirmed

Returning All-Stars are published here after selection closes, so the names on this wall are always ones we can stand behind. Nominate now and your player is in the running for the first badge.

Questions

Before you put a name forward

If something here is not answered, ask before you submit — we would rather answer twice than have a nomination sit unfinished.

Who can be nominated?

Any youth player whose parent or guardian believes they belong on the ice with the best of their birth year. Squads are built on a January 1 – December 31 birth-year basis, the same way Hockey Canada and USA Hockey run age divisions, so we ask for a date of birth to place a player in the right group.

Do I have to be the parent to nominate?

A parent or guardian must submit the nomination, because it concerns a child and we need their consent on the record. Coaches who want to put a player forward should ask that player’s family to submit, and can be named on the form as the head coach.

Does nominating cost anything?

No. Nomination is free and carries no obligation. If a player is selected you receive an invitation with the registration details and cost for your country, and you decide from there.

When and where is the All-Star Challenge?

AA All-Star Challenge 2027 runs July 8–11, 2027 at Scotiabank Pond, Toronto, Ontario. Dates and venue on this page are read directly from the event record, so what you see here is what the registration desk sees.

How are players selected?

Nominations are reviewed against the birth year and division they would play in, the level they currently play, and what the nominating family and coach tell us. Spots per birth year are capped, so a strong nomination that arrives early is worth more than a strong nomination that arrives late.

When will I hear back?

Every nomination gets an answer. Selected players receive an emailed invitation with a registration link specific to their country; players we cannot place are told so rather than left waiting.

Can I nominate more than one child?

Yes, and it is common. Submit one nomination per player, using the same parent details — siblings are reviewed independently because they play in different birth years.

What is a returning All-Star?

A player who has been selected in more than one edition. Returning All-Stars are recognised at two, three, four and five appearances, with a milestone presentation at the ring ceremony. Previous selection never guarantees a spot — every edition is selected fresh.

What do you do with my child’s information?

We use it to review the nomination and, if selected, to invite and place the player. Date of birth is used for age-division placement only and is never published. Full detail, including how to opt out or have the record deleted, is on the privacy page.
